The trip is already in its latter stages, but it was time to move through the Alps again. I woke up invigorated from all the 'tour around the world' from the last day. I had a couple hours to take in a few things in central Milan and then it would be time to scoot on.
I decided that I had time for 1 or 2 stops before needing to move on. Milan definitely deserves a future trip, because of me treating it like a stopover, but the priority was the world's fair. My main stop had to be the Milan Cathedral. It does seem like I spend a lot of my time in churches on my European trips, but this one is a little more iconic than most.
And the biggest highlight of the cathedral tour? You can go on the roof!
That was it for Milan. It was time to head north into the lake regions and then on into Switzerland. This train trip was going to be a special one. I made 2 stops on my way to Lucerne. First was at Como and the second was at Lugano. Each also deserved more than a couple hours of walking around and snacking, but that was not to be on this trip. But hey, I can at least say I've been there and I know it would be somewhere that I would like to return to.
First Como. I think I found the good walk for a snack here. Positively stunning.
Secondly Lugano, which had a very long walk down from the train station. It allowed to browse through some shops though. Hopefully, I didn't mix and match my lakes here.
I knew time was tight today, which was a bummer, but I wanted to get to Lucerne before dark at least, because my next day was equally as busy. I could have spread all of this out in another day, but oh well, next time.
But this train ride and all the waterfalls, holy cow. I could stopped the train every 5 minutes for a scenic picture.
I finally made it Lucerne right before sundown. Probably running on fumes at this point, but I knew I wouldn't do a ton of walking tonight. Well, for me. A quick loop around the central area and I was ready for a big dinner.
I selected a place called the Rathaus Brewery. Yep, my sense of humor drives my selections most of the times. I probably ordered too much, but I did clean my plate. First, there was a pretzel sandwich and then came the rabbit pasta. Both were good, but the rabbit wasn't as good as I have had. But after a long day, this and the beer I had really hit the spot.
I barely remember this hotel and really can't tell you what it looked like beyond this picture, ha.
On to the next day....
