In better news....

After a week of ungodly travel (700 miles a day avg), some play, some work, and some in the previous post, I needed a laugh Friday.  Well this will do it.....

Here is the original link Super Dog Max  I am not sure Ms Lazy Bones Nola has that many talents.

Here are the other best GIFs from the 1st half of the baseball season.  I've always thought baseball has more fun than other sports.

Vetrice "Me-maw" French
July 31st, 1930 - July 12th, 2016

Interesting how that symmetry thing works sometimes.  I remarked that one of my last posts from the old blog was David Freese becoming a hero for the Cardinals and me seeing the artifacts from those heroics this past week.  One of my other last posts was about my mom's dad passing and this week my mom's mom went to join him, Mom and Uncle Buddy.  Me-maw was always the steady one to me.  In her own way, she taught me patience, wit and perseverance when you see the challenges life brings.  Any time I always asked about how she was feeling, she always said 'about the same', even if things were never the same.  It wasn't her ignoring the obvious, but putting the focus on others and having some optimism in times of despair.  That is one of those virtues that I always hope to exhibit or at least aspire to have.

Cooperstown Part 2

Part 2 - Concert at Ommegang Brewery

From the middle of nowhere, I venture further into nowhere.  No telling what artists think when their buses are headed down these windy country roads.  But finally to the brewery.  Several thunderstorms had passed through during the day, but it was clear now or was it?   Funny that I thought the skies looked fine now and left the recently purchased poncho and umbrella in the car.  The straw you see is covering the moat.  Not sure I have ever heard of the beer, but it wasn't half bad either.

Hops in the distance.

Another plus of the show was Trombone Shorty was opening for BHIC.  I can't believe I have never been able to see them anywhere after all the years of me liking them.  What an amazing set especially if you look to the right of the below picture at what was about to happen.....

It absolutely poured down, but they never missed a single beat.  I actually can't believe they didn't stop it for a bit.  Luckily, it was right at 72 degrees and being soaked through didn't get too cold on me .  Again, this the man and the band to see if you ever get a chance.

It did take awhile for Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals to take the stage, but they played for a couple hours and left it all on the stage for appreciative crowd.  I wish I could have gotten a picture of how wet everyone was, but when Ben went on the sun and rainbows came out and the was it for the wet stuff.

They played a great mix of the new and old, with a few extended jams and solos mixed in.  Ben's music has always had the pulse of society for me.  With all the negative in the news over the last week, it was good to see a musician that bellows passionate pleas for all of us love, heal and to not forget the struggles of others.  I always stand in absolute awe when he starts playing.  Not quite old enough to have seen Hendrix, but Harper has always been the second coming of Jimi to me.  I did a guy was talking to ask if I was in my early 50s though.  I told him the drowned rat look apparently adds the years to my young self.

Overall, what an unbelievable day!!!  Now if I could only get out of this airport and continue my weekend.

As most know, I am doing a decent amount of spoiling myself since I have milestone birthday this year. Maybe I am trying to forget that actually.  I have always wanted to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.  Pretty much the middle of nowhere and I could never figure a way to link it on to another trip.  Until now.  I missed the Ben Harper in Asheville this year because of my whole Easter in Europe trip.  As soon as I realized I was missing him, I scoured their schedule and to my surprise they were playing a show in Cooperstown.  This trip became a no brainer.

Part 1 - The Hall of Fame.
Cooperstown itself would most likely dry up if it wasn't for baseball.  I probably have never been to a city that was so geared to one thing.  90% of the shops along Main St was selling baseball souvenirs and merchandise.  After flying into Albany, I took the short drive over the baseball mecca.  Saturday was all about dodging rain, but that lends to a big kid spending a half of a day in the Hall of Fame.

Maybe the next picture is why I have posted in so many years now.  The last post I had on the other blog focused on the Cardinals winning the 2011 World Series in extremely dramatic fashion with other an worldly Game 6 comeback and then closing the Rangers out in the 7th game. Well the bat below is the one David Freese used for all his heroics.

Way too much to talk about a describe, but it was pretty amazing walking through the products and tools of so many historical baseball moments.  The first video I heard when I walked in was Jack Buck's 1985 NLCS infamous homerun call of Ozzie Smith walk-off Game 5 against the Dodgers - "Go crazy folks, go crazy".  My favorite part of the museum was the fact that you could see artifacts from a 100 years ago, others that occurred during varied circumstances, or things that happened within the last month.  I offered to help them clean out their overflow stuff, but no one listened.

Nothing like getting stranded in an airport for 8 hours, well I tried to fly stand by on an earlier flight, to get back to things that I have been meaning to do for awhile.  Let's start this blog thing up again where people can see what I am up to.  For those that want to see where we left off http://nicole-daron.blogspot.com/  A few things changed since then, ha, but it's time to share again.  This do dad is an unapologetic approach to all things that are me, my interests and ramblings.  So we are off with a new chapter.....
